seo serviceThis would of been the 19th post and still may be number 19 in the 50 blog posts series I’m going to write about “seo.”   The reason why I’m writing it even before my first blog post about search engine optimization is because the image file that was associated with “seo service” in google’s image database was titled “3” and I thought I wouldn’t be able to remember which image was associated with which search term in this series of 50 posts.  Some keywords were embedded in the file name of the image that showed up first, but others were oddly enough very far removed from the actual keyword phrase.

This file name that didn’t look or have anything to relate with the keyword phrase that it was being found for  reminded me of the most popular image that brings traffic to my “Korea Blog” which I started in 2007.  This picture of porcupine quills in a dog is responsible for the onslaught of traffic to the blog which had zero focus.  While I thought I would have more searches about Korea, I ended up getting lots of traffic due to this picture that indexes within the main photos that show up sometimes for searches on “porcupine.”  I thought the file was named something totally odd, but upon closer look, it makes sense now.  The file’s name is: porcupine2_sm.jpg which now makes more sense that it did initially why it was showing up for “porcupine” searches.

Anyhoo, let’s get back to the main topic that this blog post was supposed to be about: “SEO Service.”  So the first 5 phrases that show up in terms of what google thinks is “relevant” for the phrase are:

  1. seo services company, 14,800 searches a month, 1300 EXACT
  2. seo service company (basically the singular version), 6,600/mo, 480
  3. search engine optimization seo services (which goes to show people still don’t know what “seo” really is), 18,100/mo, 480
  4. professional seo service, 2400/mo, 260
  5. buy seo services, 260/mo, 260

**Just so you know, but the first number of searches are in the “broad” sense of the word and also on a monthly basis in the U.S. only.  “Broad” means: “The sum of the search volumes for the keyword idea, related grammatical forms, synonyms and related words.” The second number is the “exact” searches which represents all the searches that have the words in the order they are in now and those words only.

These all make sense.  People are looking for companies who provide “seo service” so they can start ranking.  They also are still a little clueless that ‘seo’ means ‘search engine optimization’ or they wouldn’t be typing in the first 3 words on the 3rd most relevant phrase in this list.  And they are looking for a “professional” version of this company since there appear to still be a lot of shoddy operations out there in this very new field.  They also would like to “buy” those services obviously given that the 5th most relevant term has “buy” in it.

However, if you switch the order of the phrases to be ordered in terms of pure U.S. volume or as Google places it in their keyword tool “Local Monthly Searches”, the list looks like this (by the way this is 7/8/2011):

  1. a websites (why they would put an ‘a’ in front of a plural word is beyond me, but again why I don’t make assumptions on keywords), 13.6 million broad
  2. what is seo, 9.14 million broad
  3. an seo, same
  4. seo a, same (not sure what this is)
  5. seo and, same

When you ask for the tool to give you “exact” search numbers back in terms of phrases ordered by U.S. volume, you get a different set of keywords:

  1. seo tips, 8100/mo exact
  2. seo tools, 6600/mo
  3. seo software, 6600/mo
  4. google seo, 5400
  5. local seo, 4400

So, you can tell that it can be very important to find the inventory of phrases that are “exactly” searched to get a better idea of what people are truly looking for.

Anyway, this post is a little unfocused, but you can see from the data what people are looking for when they’re thinking about “seo service.”
