Google pointed out in a recent blog post saying that if users can’t find what they’re looking for right away after clicking through from the search to your website, your website can be punished. In this post, they identify that having excessive amounts of advertising could be detrimental for a user who clicks through to your website. Basically, google’s saying you need to be able to literally attract that user who finds your website instantaneously.
I’m curious how they determine this, but it’s probably related to the bounce rate and other things I can’t even begin to explain right now. At the same time, it is interesting they will be doing this moving forward in addition to the 500+ other changes they plan to change the search results here in 2012.
