For us to do a great job for anyone, we need to have more information vs. less.  As a result, I usually ask for Google Analytics permission from prospective and definitely paying clients because it helps us get a clearer picture of how things were and how things “could be” after we help them.  I don’t know why I haven’t created a post up through now about this, but a new client was asking about it and it dawned on me that I should finally do it!

So, here it goes:

How to add another person onto your Google Analytics Account

Step #1: Obviously, log into your Google Analytics Account

Step #2: With the initial screen, there should be a menu item that says “Admin” – click on it to get to the Admin screen

I’ve added a little red arrow to point it out.

Step #3: On the Admin page, Click on the Website Profile for which you want to grant access to

Some accounts have multiple profiles of a single website.  Others have a single website.  Just pick the one you want to give to the new user.  Maybe we’ll talk about website profiles later because there are some cool things you can do there as well.

Step #4: Next, click on the “Users” link in the menu of options under the website Profile name

Step #5: Click on the “+New User” button to add the new user (under the Users tab)

Step #6: Finally, on the Users Profile page, place the appropriate information into the fields

a) Add the email address of the user

b) Choose if they will be a User or Administrator.  I’ve found that without Administrator rights, sometimes I can’t view a clients accounts.  Not sure why this is the case.  So, 99% of my clients add me as a Administrator.  There’s no real power that I have except that I could boot someone else off as a user.  The original owner obviously would have the ultimate power.  So, it’s not a big deal to be set as an Admin.

c) Click on the “Notify this user by email” so that the user knows they have access.  It’s a nice courtesy.
