There are many people curious about the many fascinating countries throughout the world. As a result, they are searching on a conservative estimate about 216 million+ times a month for the 195 countries we analyzed today.
We also did a little peaking into Google’s databases to see what is potentially the most popular country being searched. According to their historical search metrics, here are the:
Top 10 Countries Searched on Google
|Keyword||Avg. monthly searches|
|2. japanese* (tie)||5,000,000|
|2. venezuela (tie)||5,000,000|
|6. australia (tie)||3,350,000|
|6. canada (tie)||3,350,000|
|6. portugal (tie)||3,350,000|
If we get technical, tied for #10 are also:
- new zealand
- usa (which may increase the amount for the USA**)
*As you can see, google isn’t always the best with the data they provide (without extra keyword research work). Google’s Keyword planner only shares searches on “japanese” being sought after 5 million times a month on average despite trying to get the exact volume for the term “japan.” Unfortunately, without conducting an actual Google ads campaign, we would know the true number of impressions or monthly searches that are conducted on the term. So, we’ll trust that this is a good estimate as we do with all their estimates.
At the same time, if we dive deeper, we’ll find there is much more available.
Starting off with the seed keyword “japan,” you’ll get 453 suggestions from google including:
- tokyo – searched 1.22 mill/mo
- osaka – 673k/mo
- kyoto – 450k/mo
- hokkaido – 301k/mo
- yokohama – 246k/mo
but let’s say we’re interested in JUST searches with the word “japan” in it. From the suggestions, we spawned a list of 102 phrases including:
- japan flag
- japan hot
- tokyo japan
- osaka japan
- capital of japan
This list adds approximately 2.08+ million searches a month to our list. If you ask google for more suggestions, you’ll get 1022 more suggestions that could bump this number higher to over 2.67+ million searches a month from these 1100+ phrases that have “japan” in them. If we add the other terms like the cities listed above, the numbers could be as high as 11.8+ million and who knows with all the different extra permutations.
Regardless, the point is that you can always view these numbers as limited or more thorough depending on how much and what exactly you’re asking. Our years of experience has shown that the questions are almost never fully satisfied because they always depend on exactly what is being asked. Nevertheless, the aforementioned is the best estimates based off our limited checks.
Nevertheless, this free information is hopefully at least helpful for your interests.
